De Jong calm about Milan 'crisis'

Nigel de Jong has told his AC Milan team-mates "to stay calm" despite their dismal start to the season as they look to overcome the departures of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva.

It has been the worst opening to a campaign by the Rossoneri since 1941-42, with defeat against city rivals Inter Milan last weekend their fourth defeat in the opening seven league games, leaving them 12 points behind league leaders Juventus.

Speaking to Dutch website onsoranje.nl, De Jong said: "I had a similar period at Hamburg when I was playing there and, while Italians are emotive and passionate, we have to stay calm.

"How long will it take to get out of this crisis? Don't forget 12 players left and two of them were the best in the squad. I hope it won't take too long, but we must be realistic, even if naturally we remain Milan."
