Ozil happy at Real Madrid despite exit talk

Real Madrid midfielder Mesut Ozil has rubbished talk linking him with an exit from the Bernabeu, insisting he is only thinking about playing for the Spanish champions.

• Blog: Draw will do
• Blog: Stop the excuses

Ozil, 23, has recently been linked with a move away from the club, with Manchester United reported as showing an interest.

The Germany international has faced a tough time as of late, losing his starting place for Madrid's 4-1 Champions League win against Ajax last week. He has also faced criticism from Spain's press, with manager Jose Mourinho even suggesting he "lacks quality''.

However, Ozil has claimed he does not know anything about the reports and is happy at his current club.

"When you play for Real Madrid you cannot think of anything else," he told Bild. "I know nothing and I have no reason to leave.''

But despite receiving criticism for his form this season the former Werder Bremen man says he does not use it as motivation.

"I don't have to prove anything to anyone,'' he said. "I do not play football to prove something to someone, but because I enjoy football.''
