Leeds United likened to Baywatch star

The man heading up the firm looking at a proposed takeover of Leeds United hopes to complete a deal for the club he has described as "a young Pamela Anderson'' within weeks.

Leeds Chairman, Ken Bates opened negotiations with Bahrain-based Gulf Finance House (GFH) earlier this year, however talks remain ongoing and a deal remains unsigned.

Bates stated that both parties were still keen on completing the deal, and chose to blame lawyers for the delay.

Whilst, David Haigh, who is the deputy chief executive officer and chief operating officer of GFH Captial has likened the Championship side to a young Pamela Anderson.

"It's in great shape, with superb assets and a great future ahead of her. Like any big acquisition we have to be thorough and that's the process we're going through right now. We're almost there and, hopefully, within three weeks it could be done.We are working incredibly hard to get the deal done but there are procedures and rules which must be followed."

Haigh, who is favourite to become chairman should a takeover come to fruition said he believed the club was on target to earn promotion to the English Premier League this season, with the club currently sitting in seventh spot in the Championship.

Haigh who watched on as Leeds took all three points at home against Barnsley, said current manager, Neil Warnock was part of future plans.

Haigh said "We will put finance and resources into the club. We are a Middle Eastern bank and we do things sensibly."
