Villas-Boas: Bring on Chelsea

Andre Villas-Boas is aiming to end Chelsea's unbeaten run after Tottenham claimed their fourth straight Premier League win on Sunday.

• Delaney: Spurs into gear

Spurs followed up their historic win over Manchester United by strolling to a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa that came courtesy of goals from Steven Caulker and Aaron Lennon. Villas-Boas' men are now equal fourth on the table, five points behind league leaders Chelsea.

Villas-Boas was axed from his Stamford Bridge post last season, two months before the club won the Champions League title.

The Blues have dropped two points from their first seven games of the new campaign, but the Portuguese believes he can halt their progress.

"It's obviously going to be a difficult game but we are showing good levels of competence and we hope to profit from the fact that we play at home and profit from the fact that we play an unbeaten league leader to help on our motivation to try to beat them.

"It will give us the chance to finally break in to the top four and join the elite of the Premier League which is what we have been wanting for quite some time," he said.

Villas-Boas handed goalkeeper Hugo Lloris his debut against Villa, opting to rest Brad Friedel after 310 consecutive top-flight appearances. But he refused to agree that Lloris was now the club's No. 1.

"After the Panathinaikos game, we decided it would be logical if we wanted to get Hugo acquainted with the Premier League type of games. He can't play only Europa League. The change was not based on performance. Brad has been immense for this team," said Villas-Boas.
