Shearer open to Blackburn approach

Alan Shearer has admitted he would be open to an approach from Blackburn with regard to the club's managerial vacancy.

Rovers are on the lookout for a new manager following Steve Kean's departure and they claim to have been inundated with approaches.

One person who has not approached Rovers is former Blackburn striker Shearer, but he would certainly listen to what the club have to say.

Speaking on BBC's Football Focus, the 42-year-old said: "Have they tried to speak to me? No. Have I tried to speak to them? No.

"With my history at Blackburn, I would speak to them absolutely."

He added: "It's a strange one at Blackburn, I'm sure they had a plan with Steve Kean but it's now a tough situation. Whoever they appoint, they have to make sure it is the right choice.

"I think things would have to change whoever goes in at Blackburn."

Shearer led Blackburn to the Premier League title, with his goals firing them to glory in 1995.

He has had only one taste of management, when stepping in at Newcastle for the final eight games of the 2008/09 season but he failed to see them to safety.
