Udinese revel in Anfield triumph

Udinese coach Francesco Guidolin described his side's Europa League win at Liverpool as "a magical evening that gives us a real boost in terms of results and confidence".

They triumphed 3-2 at Anfield thanks to Giovanno Pasquale' 72nd-minute goal, and captain Antonio Di Natale - who put talk of an argument with Guidolin behind him as he embraced the coach - said it was "a great game".

"It is a moment of great joy for our big family, because that's what we are at Udinese," he told Sky Italia.

"All of us - players, fans, coaching staff and club are a big family and we wanted to do well here against an important team like Liverpool.

"Why did I slide on my knees in front of the fans? They are our supporters and it was a fun moment. They give us so much. The team played a great game against a prestigious club."

Napoli were soundly beaten in Eindhoven, losing 3-0 to PSV after heavily rotating a side that was also missing the suspended Marek Hamsik.

Speaking to Italia Uno, coach Walter Mazzarri said: "We started well, but then lost the ball too many times in midfield. It is a game we have to put behind us, but we have to mature and realise squad rotation is necessary for the position we are in.

"However, the fact is that there aren't enough players to cover every competition. Either we drop points in Serie A or we drop them in Europe. Now we have to think ahead to Udinese this weekend."

Inter also made numerous changes with the weekend's Milan derby in mind, but had enough quality to overcome Azerbaijan outfit Neftci 3-1.

The result delighted Andrea Stramaccioni, who told reporters: "We knew it would be a difficult game, but Inter played a great first half.

"There were only three players who also started against Fiorentina, so maintaining a certain shape and character away from home means the whole group is growing together.

"There were five players who are under 20 years old and these are important signals, because it means we are building a new era. It was important to win and be top of the group. Now we can think about the derby."
