Sergio Ramos denies jersey hijinks

Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos said Tuesday he only wore teammate Mesut Ozil's jersey underneath his own for good luck in Sunday's 5-1 victory over Deportivo La Coruna.

"I would like to clarify a few things before more lies are told and people keep inventing. Mesut is a great friend and I told him a while ago that my first goal of the season would be for him," Ramos said via his Twitter account. "Taking advantage of the switch, I put hit his shirt on, with confidence that it could be my first goal. Nothing more."

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho on Tuesday included Ramos in the list of players headed to Amsterdam for Real's Champions League matchup versus Ajax on Wednesday (2:45 p.m. ET).

Ramos again insisted he has no beef with his coach.

"Also, my relation with Mourinho is good, honest and clear," Ramos tweeted. "I respect his decisions and he is, for me, the best coach. Go Madrid!"

Mourinho benched Ramos for Real's first Champions League matchup, a 3-2 victory over Manchester City on Sept. 18.

On Sunday against Depor, Mourinho shifted Ramos over to take Alvaro Arbeloa's place on the right side of the defense, a change Ramos said he knew was coming.

"Lateral was circumstantial, in the center I am more comfortable," he told Spanish media.
