Dip in form worries Laudrup

Michael Laudrup is concerned by the slide in form that has left Swansea without a point, or even a goal, from their last three Premier League matches.

Saturday's 2-0 defeat at a previously winless Stoke continued to undo Swansea's spectacular work of the first eight days of the season, in which they led the table after beating QPR 5-0 away and West Ham 3-0 at home.

And the Dane says he is most worried by the fact his players suddenly don't look like scoring.

"This was the third game in the League when we did not score," he said. "I think that's more of a concern to me than the two goals we conceded. We have to score because, if you don't, it is impossible to win.

"Three games without a goal is a little bit strange after scoring ten in our first three games and sometimes you've got to find out why. It's something we really have to look into. In other games, we have created chances but here we didn't.

"Now we have two home games against two teams from our 'league', so they will be six-point games. They are against two of the teams we are in direct combat with, especially the Reading game."

The vultures are circling to suggest that Swansea - so bright last season following promotion under Brendan Rodgers - have been sussed out. But, second season syndrome or not, Rodgers' successor believes his players have it in them to halt their slide down the table.

"If teams say they can put high pressure on Swansea, we can still play out there," he added. "There will always be space because if teams put pressure on us high up the pitch, we should still have space behind their back four.

"So I think it's not that simple to say: 'They know how to play us'. We have to admit we have not been playing as well when we have the ball as we were in the first games, so we have to go back to that.

"The way we play... the passing and movement. I won't say it's everything but it's important to the way we play."

Despite a run of only one point out of 12, Laudrup insists he is not about to abandon the expansive football for which Swansea have become renowned.

"You could say we could put another man in midfield but it's about the players we have," he said. "They want to play that kind of game. That's why you have your style. We have one style, Stoke have another.

"If you took three or four of our players and put them in the Stoke team, they could not play and the other way round. Nothing is right and nothing is wrong. It's just not that easy.

"We have to do this because it's what we know. We have to find solutions when things are not working and the solution for me, first of all, is to play a little faster and move a little more. We need to improve next week."
