Sherwood plays down Rovers talk

Tottenham Hotspur assistant first-team coach Tim Sherwood says he has not had any contact from Blackburn Rovers over the vacant manager's job.

• Kean 'forced to resign'
• Jolly: Kean's overdue exit

Steve Kean resigned his position at Ewood Park on Friday and Sherwood, who played for Rovers between 1992 and 1999, has been touted as a potential successor.

However, when asked about the rumours, he told the Press Association: "That's all they are - just rumours.

"That's all I know about it. I've got a great job where I am. There ain't nothing to consider. It's just speculation. I love what I do. I'm happy at the football club - it's a great project."

ESPN sources have indicated that Sherwood would not be interested in the position, while reports on Sunday suggest Spurs chairman Daniel Levy could demand £3 million in compensation should he depart.

Asked about the situation after the victory at Manchester United, Andre Villas-Boas had said: "I can't comment on the Blackburn situation because I have Steve Kean as a friend and I respect him but, if Tim is a candidate, he has to make a personal decision and speak to the club."
