Jean II Makoun has said he is enjoying life on loan at Rennes from Aston Villa and wants to play as many matches for the club as he can.
The midfielder, whose team take on Lille on Friday night, says he wants to find his best form quickly and is pleased that the matches will be coming thick and fast.
He said: "I'm starting to feel good. I'm here to win my place, and will do everything to keep it. We need to be strong together - that is the only way we can move up the table. Now we have to win games."
Makoun said he was still in close touch with plenty of people at his first club Lille, adding: "I go back very often. I was still there not so long ago, and I still have my house there."
Yann M'Villa was dropped to the bench for Rennes' 2-2 draw with Toulouse last weekend, and coach Frederic Antonetti explained: "The arrival of Jean II Makoun has rebalanced the midfield. This is the only area where I have a little leeway. I use it a bit."
