Russian cities await decision

ZURICH -- Russia has given FIFA a technical report analyzing 13 cities that want to host 2018 World Cup matches.

FIFA says Russian sports minister Vitaly Mutko and local organizing committee chief executive Alexei Sorokin presented the report Wednesday to President Sepp Blatter. Eleven cities will be chosen.

Blatter and Mutko are part of the 25-member FIFA executive committee which will choose the 2018 venues at a two-day meeting starting Thursday. Mutko said this month that Kaliningrad, Rostov-on-Don, Saransk, Volgograd and Yaroslavl had "several problems" identified during inspection tours.

Other candidates are Ekaterinburg, Kazan, Krasnodar, Nizhny Novgorod, St. Petersburg, Samara and Sochi.
