Wenger eager to build on momentum

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger claims "a feel-good factor" is flooding through his club after their impressive start to the season.

Wenger believes Sunday's battling 1-1 draw against Manchester City has cemented the belief that his side can emerge as surprise contenders for the Premier League title and he hopes the momentum behind his charges continues in Wednesday night's Carling Cup tie against Coventry at Emirates Stadium.

"The feel-good factor is there, especially about the quality of our display and the attitude of the team," Wenger told Arsenal's official website. "The draw on Sunday should strengthen even more our resolve to do well in the league, we have a big part to play.

"Overall, there is some frustration with Sunday's match because we didn't take the chances and we have a great need to take our chances in the big games. Also, the goal we gave away was quite soft. But I must say the global impression is still very positive.

"We've been to three difficult places - Stoke, Liverpool and Man City - and we've come away from it unbeaten with convincing performances. Overall that is a very positive impression."

Wenger has confirmed he will pick a team that involves a number of youngsters for the game against struggling Coventry, but insists his desire to make progress in the Capital One Cup cannot be under-estimated.

"We will be focused to do well in this competition and we have an opportunity to do so against Coventry," he added. "We have a big squad, so we will put out a strong team. When you think that Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky and Bacary Sagna will not be involved, you can see that the squad is quite big and strong in quality."

The third round tie between Arsenal and Coventry is set to be a complete sell-out at the Emirates, with the Sky Blues set to be backed by a travelling contingent of around 9,000 supporters.
