Pulis eager to eradicate diving

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis will continue his campaign to highlight diving in the Premier League as part of his attempts to help rid the game of simulation.

• Pulis slams 'laughable' Blues pair

Pulis feels the football authorities are not doing enough to stop simulation and is calling for the support of fellow managers to help combat the problem.

The Welshman feels his side were the victims of diving by Chelsea's Oscar, who received a yellow card for his antics, and Branislav Ivanovic during their weekend defeat at Stamford Bridge.

Pulis said he had sympathy for referee Michael Oliver for having to deal with such situations and feels referees should be given more support from the Premier League and the Football Association.

"This is England. We're playing in England. We're not playing in Europe and we can't watch people just fall over and not talk about it," he said.

"That's the disappointing thing. We should highlight it and keep highlighting it and keep highlighting it."

Pulis also voiced frustration at the inconsistency of FA regulations which allow retrospective action against players for incidents missed by officials during the game but do not allow for further inquests into incidents that were dealt with during the match.

Ivanovic could be punished for an alleged elbow to the head of Michael Kightly, just days after Andy Wilkinson's recent elbow on Manchester City's Mario Balotelli resulted in a retrospective three-match ban.

That was missed by Oliver and his assistants, but David Luiz was only booked for a reckless tackle on Jonathan Walters - a challenge Pulis felt should have resulted in a red card and a suspension.

"I don't want to get people booked and sent off. If Ivanovic has done anything wrong, I'm sure you'll write about it," he said.

"The worst thing is that Luiz's challenge is a very, very poor one, but because the referee's seen it and booked him he's not going to miss a game.

"It's a like a policeman watching a robber rob a bank and because he's seen it the police are going to let him off, whereas if he didn't see him, they are going to arrest him. It's absolutely crazy. Ridiculous."
