Milan backing for under-fire Allegri

AC Milan have backed coach Massimiliano Allegri after his team slumped to their third defeat in the opening four weeks of the new Serie A campaign.

The Rossoneri were beaten 2-1 by Udinese and had two players sent off, with the result following losses to both Sampdoria and Atalanta - but the club insisted Allegri's future was "not up for debate".

Milan were also held to a frustrating 0-0 Champions League draw by Anderlecht, but vice-chairman Adriano Galliani told the Milan Channel: "We played better than Udinese.

"The team is showing signs of improvement, and now we await the first home win on Wednesday against Cagliari. Allegri is not up for debate. We are going forward with this coach, as he has the total faith of the president and I.

"Don't forget he has earned 162 points in two years, and that is not to be sniffed at. The team worked hard today, even with nine men, and proved how much they care for the coach. So do we. For the past year, luck seems to be against us, but it's early days and we are only in week four."

Allegri himself refused to comment on the possibility he could be dismissed, telling Sky Italia: "Talking about my dismissal would be senseless, as it's not my decision."

His Udinese counterpart Francesco Guidolin offered him support, saying: "First of all, I compliment Milan for an excellent opening ten minutes in which they really pinned us back. Max has everything needed to revive this Milan side."
