Kean future looking uncertain

Steve Kean's position as manager of Blackburn Rovers is looking increasingly uncertain amid reports that he could be sacked on Monday.

Although Blackburn - relegated from the Premier League last season - are second in the Championship table, their 2-1 loss to Middlesbrough on Friday has intensified speculation over Kean's future.

It is understood that Blackburn's hierarchy will hold talks on Monday to decide his fate.

The Scot, who was appointed as Rovers boss in December 2010, remains an unpopular figure with a number of the club's fans.

Sources close to Kean told ESPN: "It doesn't look good - yet the club are on course for 92 points, which would mean promotion. They've had their best start in the Championship ever, yet the club have set a target of 16 points in the first seven games.

"Rumours of Steve's sacking filtered through the club on Friday, so it's little wonder that the team lost.

"Steve has managed in difficult times, having to shed £30 million of costs by selling players - that doesn't make it easy for a manager."

It is reported that Tim Sherwood, Blackburn's 1995 title-winning captain, is a candidate to replace Kean.
