Allegri denies bust up with Inzaghi

AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri and youth team coach Filippo Inzaghi put on a public display of unity on Friday as they refuted rumours of a bust up.

• Paul: Time is ticking for Allegri

Earlier reports suggested the two men had a huge row at the club's training base - the Vismara Centre - this week after Allegri arrived to watch a number of players going through their workouts under the guidance of the retired former Italy striker who now leads the Milan Under 17 side.

After posing for a seemingly staged photograph, both men spoke at a joint press conference aired on the Milan Channel with Allegri saying: "Nothing happened, absolutely nothing.

"There is no problem with Pippo, in fact there is great collaboration between the first team and the youth sector. There was an exchange of opinions without any offense or heavy words."

Inzaghi was then asked for his thoughts and the 2006 World Cup winner fully agreed with his former boss.

"Allegri is right, it lasted for one minute. The youth team players didn't notice anything because nothing happened. We are Milan and we all love Milan so nothing like that would have occurred. Rather than writing about things that didn't happen, Milan need a helping hand."

The media gathering ended with a few final words from Allegri who went on to discuss the futures of both men, even going so far as to tout Inzaghi as a potential successor when he eventually does leave.

He told reporters: "I hope to remain at Milan for some time to come. But I won't be here forever and I think that Filippo has all the characteristics needed to have an excellent career as a coach. He's started from an excellent base and he can do a good job."
