Palermo have sacked their coach Giuseppe Sannino following a disappointing start to the season, replacing him with Gian Piero Gasperini.
Palermo have collected just one point from their opening three games, causing the club to dispense with Sannino, who was only appointed to the position in June after leaving Siena.
"We would like to thank him and his coaching staff for the commitment and professionalism shown in recent months," read the statement on the club's official website.
"At the same time the club has appointed Gian Piero Gasperini, who will lead his first training session with the team on Tuesday afternoon."
Sannino's replacement, Gasperini, becomes the Sicilian club's seventh manager since the beginning of 2011. Gasperini had his most successful spell in management at Genoa leading them to fifth in Serie A in 2008-09.
His most recent role was at Inter Milan last season, but he lasted less than three months at the San Siro.
