Van Persie and Kagawa both fit for Wigan

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Robin van Persie and Shinji Kagawa are both fit to face Wigan on Saturday after picking up injuries on international duty.

• Fletcher named in United squad

Kagawa, 23, sat out Japan's 1-0 win over Iraq with back trouble while Van Persie, 29, was taken off during Netherland's 4-1 win over Hungary with a thigh problem.

However, the Manchester United manager revealed that the only absentees for the match against Roberto Martinez's men are defenders Phil Jones and Chris Smalling.

"Everyone's fit, apart from the ones we know about - Phil Jones and Chris Smalling," Ferguson said.

"Jones was a bad blow for us. He got an injury in training last weekend. He'll be out for eight-ten weeks. We expect Smalling to be back training inside a month."

Another worry for the United boss is that some of his players have had to return from South and Central America or Asia after representing their countries.

"You always have concerns about players travelling [long distances] in international breaks," Ferguson added.

"We had Chicharito [Javier Hernandez], Valencia and Kagawa. They've all done it before, although with Shinji we don't know exactly how he reacts to travelling back from long distances. Hopefully he'll be okay."
