N'Zonzi ready for action

Steven N'Zonzi is ready to face Premier League champions Manchester City this weekend despite not having played a game this season.

N'Zonzi, 23, has not tasted competitive action since being frozen out by Blackburn Rovers last season.

But Stoke's £3 million transfer deadline-day signing from Ewood Park insists the lack of first-team action will not count against him if called upon by new boss Tony Pulis to make his debut at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.

"Although I have not played, I have been training and working hard all of the time and I feel good," he said.

The former France Under-21 international admits it was difficult at Blackburn last season when he was left out of the side by Steve Kean, after handing in a transfer request.

However, mentally he is now ready for the new challenge and looking forward to forging a central midfield partnership with fellow new-boy Charlie Adam.

"It was difficult not playing, difficult mentally sometimes, but now I am fine," he said. "It has been good at Stoke because everybody is making me feel good and feel welcome, the staff and the players. Charlie Adam gives something good to the team and he has good quality, but it is not my decision if we play together. The manager will decide what is going to happen."

N'Zonzi accepts he has a challenge on his hands to force his way into the side, with Pulis having six options for two places in the centre of midfield, including another new signing, Maurice Edu.

"Anything the manager asks me to do I will try to do it," he added. "I cannot say if I am his type of player, but I will just do my best to show I can be good for the team."
