Abou Diaby is set to sit out France's World Cup qualifier against Belarus on Tuesday night due to a knock he sustained against Finland.
Diaby has struggled for fitness in recent seasons but has this campaign started strongly for his club Arsenal, putting in an impressive display in their 2-0 win over Liverpool.
He carried that form into France's meeting with Finland last Friday as he scored the match's only goal to clinch a 1-0 win in Helsinki.
The midfielder is unlikely, though, to be risked this week versus Belarus, along with left-back Gael Clichy.
Speaking to Eurosport, coach Didier Deschamps said: "I have a problem with Gael Clichy and Abou Diaby who'll both struggle to make the game. He took a knock and has some muscular discomfort. Today, he's not training."
