Capello in no mood to discuss England

Fabio Capello has stayed silent over his controversial exit as England manager, revealing only that it was down to a matter of "respect", as he prepares for his first competitive match as Russia boss.

The Italian coach quit his role with England in February after the Football Association decided to go against his wishes and strip John Terry of the captaincy, due to the Anton Ferdinand racial allegations which the Chelsea defender was subsequently cleared of.

Capello made a swift return to international football when the Russian Football Union came calling in July, offering him a reported £7.8 million a year.

The former AC Milan and Real Madrid manager's new side take on Northern Ireland in Moscow on Friday, in their first Group F World Cup qualifier, and he was in no mood to reflect on his previous job.

"I left England, but you know why. Because of respect. Only this," he said, when asked of the reasoning behind his exit. "It's finished. No more questions about England."
