Evian sack manager Correa

Evian have sacked manager Pablo Correa, replacing him with the club's sporting director Pascal Dupraz.

Correa, 45, is the first coach to lose his job in Ligue 1 this season. Evian lie 18th in the league, after three defeats and a draw in their opening four games.

The Uruguayan's departure was hastened by the breakdown in his relationship with the board at Evian. According to L'Equipe, Correa's tactics and his team selections weren't always understood, and he failed to communicate effectively with his players and the backroom staff.

Although Correa is disappointed with the timing, he understands it. "I respect the decision, I've not much to say. It's just maybe early after four games, but I don't want to get into controversy," he said. Dupraz, 49, will take the reins after moving from his role as sporting director. Evian president Patrick Trotignon said he was the club's natural choice.

The new manager knows the club very well, having worked at Evian for over 20 years. ''He is a leader, he has the technical knowledge, he is in charge until June at least. His goal, remain quietly in Ligue 1," Trotignon said.
