Turkish giants Fenerbahce have confirmed they are in transfer talks with Chelsea regarding midfielder Raul Meireles.
Meireles, 29, is seen as a replacement for Emre Balozoglu, who left the Turkish club for Atletico Madrid in the summer.
A statement from the club said: "Fenerbache have begun official transfer talks with Chelsea footballer Raul Meireles."
The Portugal international moved to West London from Liverpool in 2011 for a fee of €13.5 million, and went on to play 28 games for the club last season, but was suspended for the Champions League final win over Bayern Munich.
Fenerbahce have until September 5, when the Turkish transfer window closes, to complete the deal.
