Fulham have completed the signing of Sunderland's versatile midfielder Kieran Richardson.

Richardson, 27, signed a three-year deal with an additional year's option and moved for an undisclosed fee.

Speaking to Fulham's official website, Richardson said: "I'm delighted that my transfer to Fulham has been completed and now I'm eager to start training for my new club straight away and pulling on the white shirt for the first time.

"I haven't worked with him (Martin Jol) but he told me he has been tracking me for a while so you're always happy to play for a manger who always wants you.

"I just want to come here, score goals and create and just be as positive as I can for Fulham and I want to see Fulham get as high as they can in the table. I want to get Fulham as high as possible and get back into Europe again and play good football.''

Manager Martin Jol added: "Kieran is a proven top-level player, who has the versatility to play in a number of positions. He will bring all-round quality which will add strength to our squad and I'm confident that he will adapt well to our style of football, and make an impact for us."

The England international joined the Wearsiders from Manchester United in 2007 in a deal estimated to be worth around £5.5 million.

Meanwhile Sunderland have moved to secure Richardson's replacement after opening discussions with Tottenham Hotspur over a loan deal for Danny Rose.

Rose, 22, who joined Spurs from Leeds in 2007, and was a member of Stuart Pearce's squad for this summer's Olympics, has had previous loan spells at Watford, Peterborough United and Bristol City.
