New QPR signing Julio Cesar said an emotional goodbye to the Inter Milan supporters on the San Siro pitch on Thursday, while club president Massimo Moratti paid tribute to both the goalkeeper and Manchester City-bound defender Maicon.
Cesar - who asked for the chance to say farewell in person - spoke to the San Siro crowd prior to Inter's Europa League tie with Romanian side Vaslui.
Taking to a microphone, Cesar said "I want to thank the fans and president Moratti for these seven wonderful years.
"When I arrived I was just a simple guy but you welcomed me with great enthusiasm. [Roberto] Mancini had given me confidence and I knew immediately that this was the perfect team."
Also speaking before kick-off, Moratti himself admitted to Sky Italia that Maicon was on his way to Eastlands, saying;
"I already saluted them both. It is sad to see them go, but also a motivation for them to do well elsewhere. We care about them and Inter will always be home to Maicon and Julio Cesar."
