Martinez still training with Athletic

Javi Martinez carried out a double training session with Athletic Bilbao on Monday, despite reports in the German press that he was to fly out to Munich.

• Llorente 'happy to stay'

The Spain international has been linked with a variety of clubs over the summer, with Bayern Munich the most likely to sign the 23-year-old.

Bild claimed the Basque midfielder was set for a medical in Munich and to complete the formalities of his €40 million deal, but his non-arrival in the German capital would imply this is inaccurate.

Bayern are willing to meet the player's release clause, but the complexities of the deal means that the move is now in the hands of lawyers.

Martinez joined Fernando Llorente, who is also the subject of transfer speculation, and the injured Fernando Amorebieta at Lezama, the club's training ground, with the rest of the squad in Madrid preparing for their game with Atletico on Monday night.

The former Osasuna youngster has been discarded by Athletic manager Marcelo Bielsa, with the Argentine claiming he wants his future dealt before he is reintegrated into the squad.
