Azpilicueta pleads for patience

Chelsea new boy Cesar Azpilicueta has urged the Stamford Bridge faithful to give him time to settle into the Premier League, after his £9 million move from Marseille was confirmed on Friday.

• Blues snap up Azpilicueta

ESPN revealed that Azpilicueta was on the brink of a move to Chelsea last Wednesday and now the Spaniard has spoken of his delight to be joining the reigning European champions.

"I watch a lot of the Premier League on television and it will be difficult for me to adapt at first, but I hope this will happen if I am given time," he told Chelsea TV.

"There are some very good players at Chelsea and my aim is to learn from the experience inside the dressing room and grow as a player. I am still young and need to develop to be as good as some of the players in this squad.

"My aim this season is to integrate with the team, play as many games as possible and try to help this club win even more trophies."
