BVB upset by Arsenal's Auba comments

Transfer Rater: Lucas Moura to Spurs

Wenger wants Walcott contract solution

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said he wants a solution to Theo Walcott's contract situation before the end of the transfer window.

Walcott has two years left on his current Gunners deal, and Wenger is determined not to allow him to run the contract down to a single year in an effort to secure a big-money move in 12 months.

"Negotiations are ongoing with Walcott and we want to try and sort it out one way or the other before the transfer window shuts," the manager said.

"Both parties are still around the table, so it would not be right to deal in what happens if we do not reach an agreement. We want him to stay, and hopefully that is the outcome."

Wenger would have a natural replacement for Walcott in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain if required, and praised the England winger ahead of Sunday's trip to Stoke.

"He is still a young boy, but I can see how much he has matured in the last year," Wenger added. "Going to Euro 2012 in the summer was good for him because he trained with top players every day and saw how they prepared for big games. He is certainly a player on the way up, and I have great belief in him."
