Song completes Barca switch

Arsenal midfielder Alex Song has completed his move to Barcelona, putting pen to paper on a five-year deal at the Camp Nou.

Song, 24, underwent tests with the Barcelona medical team, which he easily passed, allowing him to complete a long-awaited move on Monday afternoon.

Barca doctor Ricard Pruna told the club's official website: "He has a very low level of body-fat and a very good muscular quality. I do not think he has had a muscle injury since he was 17 years old. That is good news. All the tests went well and he is available for the coach."

The Cameroon midfielder has been at Emirates Stadium since 2005, but his desire for a new challenge has seen him lured to Barcelona for a fee of around €19 million.

He is expected to provide back-up for Sergio Busquets in defensive midfielder as new manager Tito Vilanova looks to strengthen the depth of his squad, while he can also play at centre-back and provide some creativity from midfield.

The midfielder was delighted to complete his move, telling Barca TV: "Today is a very good day for me and my family. Very happy to be here, this is the best team in the world, playing at a club like Barga is something I wanted when I was young.

"I hope the team will continue to win, this is a winning team. They win everything. I will give my best on training and when I get the chance to play I will do it.''

And Song believes former Arsenal team-mate Cesc Fabregas will help him settle at the Nou Camp.

"I know Cesc very well, I slept at his house last night,'' he added. "He's a very good friend of mine, he will help me to integrate.''
