Everton seeking loan for Ross Barkley
Everton midfielder Ross Barkley is set to follow the David Beckham route to the top by going out on loan to gain first-team experience.
Manager David Moyes wants to send Barkley out to a Championship club, with Sheffield Wednesday the favorite, he told the Daily Mail.
Moyes plans to keep the 18-year-old Barkley at Goodison Park until the transfer window shuts, then allow him to make a temporary move when the Football League loan window opens in early September.
"I'm thinking about getting him some Championship experience maybe in the coming month or two," Moyes told the Mail. "I can't do it right now until the squad is strong enough. I want him to go out and play. It seems right."
Moyes hopes the experience will prove every bit as useful to Barkley as it did to Beckham, who had a short loan spell at Preston early in his Manchester United career.
Beckham spent a month at Preston in 1995, where he played in the same team as Moyes.
"I remember David Beckham coming to play when I was at Preston," Moyes said. "You've got to remember Ross is still a boy."
