Tevez: I've never felt better
Carlos Tevez says he has never felt in better shape as Manchester City prepare to defend their Premier League title.
Tevez was AWOL for much of City's first league triumph in 44 years, but returned to play a key role for the club in the closing stages of the season. After scoring in City's Community Shield victory over Chelsea last weekend, Tevez insists he will be firing for Sunday's clash against newly-promoted Southampton.
"This is the best I've felt ahead of a new season," Tevez told the Sun. "For the first time in four or five years I've had a full month of pre-season training.
"This has not happened in previous years because of national team commitments so I'm feeling in good shape. I did all the pre-season and the truth is I feel great."
Earlier this week, Tevez stated he once again feels "valued" at City and confirmed he is now in a positive frame of mind and focused on achieving back-to-back titles with the club.
"The pre-season games went well, I was pleased with how I played," he said. "I'm feeling good here, all the problems are the past and the truth is I'm happy.
"Now I feel settled, I feel good in myself and I'm working hard, the main aim is to be champions again."
