Venky's: Kean could be sacked
Blackburn manager Steve Kean has been told he could be sacked three games into the season.
Rovers' global advisor Shebby Singh, who represents owners Venky's at Ewood Park, said a hat-trick of defeats might bring down the curtain on Kean's unpopular reign.
The Scot kept his job despite Rovers' relegation from the Premier League but begins the Championship campaign under intense pressure with Singh demanding an immediate return to the top flight.
Speaking at a fans' forum, Singh said: ""If, after three games, we have dropped nine points, then we'll only have a 50% chance of getting promoted."
Asked then if he could dismiss Kean, he replied: "If we lost three games on the trot, definitely. Yes."
It was a response that brought cheers from Rovers fans, who have called for Kean to be sacked for the past year.
Kean also criticised veteran midfielders Morten Gamst Pedersen and David Dunn, suggesting the Norwegian is too slow to remain involved.
"Morten Gamst Pedersen used to be a fantastic left winger. Unfortunately he has not reinvented himself as a central midfielder. He has lost his legs, he's not been contributing to the team.
"We want people who can run and run, and keep running for 90 minutes for the cause. We are not here to entertain big names, I am sorry, and this is why teams fail."
