Morrison joins Blues on loan

Birmingham City have announced the signing of midfielder Ravel Morrison from West Ham United on a season-long loan deal.

Morrison, 19, left Manchester United in January but made only one substitute appearance for the Hammers in the Championship as they secured promotion via the play-offs.

He has now been allowed to spend the 2012-13 campaign in the Championship with Birmingham, where he will hope to have more first-team opportunities.

Meanwhile, Birmingham boss Lee Clark has played down talk that former West Brom midfielder Somen Tchoyi could join the club.

Tchoyi, 29, is available on a free transfer and is training with Blues, but Clark told the Birmingham Mail: "He is just training with us. His agent, who I know well, called me and said Somen still lives in the Birmingham area and is looking for somewhere to train. I said it wouldn't be a problem.

"Somen's a player of high quality, a Premier League performer, and he hasn't done much football training, so basically we're assisting him, giving him the use of the facilities and letting him train with us. It's nothing more than that at this moment in time."
