Malaga confirm Rondon departure

Financially-troubled Malaga have confirmed the departure of striker Jose Salomon Rondon to Rubin Kazan.

On Sunday, the Russian club announced that they had struck a deal for Rondon, 22, with the player signing a four-year contract.

The Venezuelan, who joined Malaga from Las Palmas two years ago, was the club's top scorer and the Malaga website said: "The player has a bright future ahead in the Russian league."

On Thursday, Malaga denied that their owners had refused to put more money into the club and said trying to comply with Financial Fair Play rules was behind the ongoing uncertainty.

Reports have linked several key players including Santi Cazorla - set to move to Arsenal - with transfers amid allegations of unpaid wages and bonuses. Some have suggested that up to six first-choice players could be sold, and it appears that coach Manuel Pellegrini will leave.

But amid speculation that Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nassar Al-Thani has pulled the plug on his investment, the club issued a statement in which it said was "restructuring" its finances.

Speaking after Malaga had lost 2-0 to Juventus on their pre-season tour of Italy, midfielder Enzo Maresca said the club had agreed to sell Cazorla and warned that the departure of Pellegrini would be a "huge blow".
