Dzeko won't accept bench role at City

Edin Dzeko has spoken of his frustration at Manchester City last season and suggested he may move on if things do not change.

• Live Transfer Blog: On the Move

Dzeko, 26, arrived at City in January of 2011, with manager Roberto Mancini hailing him as the player who would "make the difference" in their title push.

Things did not work out as planned and it was little different last term, with Mancini preferring Sergio Aguero, Mario Balotelli and the returning Carlos Tevez in attack.

Sitting on the bench as City won the title proved frustrating for Dzeko, who did actually score 14 goals, and with Italian clubs linked with bids, he has warned Mancini that things must change.

He said: "In the second half of last season, I suddenly got to start far fewer games - and I've got no idea why.

"I lost my rhythm. I joined City in order to play in matches. I never imagined that things would turn out the way they have. I am too good for the bench. If I continue to sit matches out, then anything is possible."
