Houston ruin Cahill's MLS bow

Tim Cahill suffered defeat on his Major League Soccer debut for the New York Red Bulls as his new side went down 2-0 at Houston Dynamo.

Jermaine Taylor gave the home side a second-minute lead before Calen Carr doubled the advantage in the 28th minute as in-form Houston moved two points clear of the Red Bulls at the top of the Eastern Conference with their fifth successive victory.

Australia international Cahill was named in New York's starting line-up following his recent move from Everton. Cahill also featured in the Red Bulls' 2-1 friendly defeat to Tottenham in midweek.
