Muamba enjoys holiday kick-about

Fabrice Muamba says he took part in an impromptu kick-about at a hotel during a holiday in Dubai, two months after his collapse with a cardiac arrest during an FA Cup tie at Tottenham.

The Bolton midfielder has made an extraordinary recovery from what happened at White Hart Lane. He was treated at the London Chest Hospital, where doctors took 78 minutes to restart his heart, but it is not known when or whether he will be able to return to professional football.

The 24-year-old told CNN he had enjoyed taking part in the Dubai kick-about, saying: "I played like I was training – it was great."

He explained: "I was on holiday - I was staying in a hotel and there were quite a few footballers in the hotel as well. The staff of the hotel usually play against the visitors, and I was by the pool and heard they were playing football

"Then I went across and saw other footballers playing and I told my friends and [his fiancée] Shauna: 'I am sorry, but I am going to play football'. She goes: 'Are you sure?' and I said: 'Yes' and just went in there."

He said his fiancée had been "scared" when he declared that he would play, but added: "I just went through the groove and played for about 20-25 minutes. It was just playing like normal, it was just playing like I was training. It was great - I enjoyed it.

"I just hope to God that I can get in there myself, with the 11 players on the pitch - to play [professional football again] would be fantastic."
