Fiorentina wrap up Fernandez deal

Fiorentina have reached an agreement with Sporting Lisbon over the transfer of Chile international Matias Fernandez to the Serie A club.

Argentina-born Fernandez moved to Europe from Colo Colo in 2006, joining Villarreal, with whom he celebrated the club's best ever league finish in his second season as they finished runners-up in the Primera Division.

The Chile and South America footballer of the year in 2006 joined Sporting in 2009 and became a regular for the Portuguese side.

The midfielder signed a four-year contract with Fiorentina on Friday and commenced training with the club's youth team on Saturday as the first team have been given two days off at the end of their training camp in Moena.
