Huseklepp leaves Portsmouth

SK Brann have signed Norway international Erik Huseklepp from Portsmouth on a four-and-a-half-year deal, leaving the League One side with only four senior professionals on their books.

• Redknapp wants to help Pompey
• Birch: Portsmouth have until August 10

Huseklepp, who can play as a forward or on the wing, had spent time on loan with Birmingham last season but was unable to secure a permanent deal with Blues and has now returned to his homeland.

Pompey boss Michael Appleton told the club's official website: "Erik was a regular in the side before the situation changed dramatically here and he had to go out on loan. He was unlucky because after playing regularly for us things didn't quite work out for him at Birmingham.

"I think Erik feels going back to play in Norway will be best for his international career and we wish him all the best."

Portsmouth have been desperately trying to get their most highly paid players to leave the club or accept compromise deals as they try to stave off the threat of liquidation. Of the senior players, only Tal Ben Haim - by some distance the club's biggest earner - Kanu, Liam Lawrence and Dave Kitson remain at Fratton Park.
