Wenger: No bids for RVP

Arsene Wenger lost his composure in the face of repeated questioning about Robin van Persie, with the Arsenal boss insisting there has been no further contact from Manchester City or Manchester United.

• Wenger: No Sahin bid

Following his side's 2-0 loss to City in a pre-season friendly in Beijing, Wenger faced a greater number of questions about a player who was not on the tour than the game itself.

Van Persie was not taken to Asia, with the club electing to let him stay in London to work on his fitness on the back of his announcement that he will not sign a new deal.

While Juventus have suggested they cannot afford to pursue to the player, Sir Alex Ferguson earlier said United had made a bid, and Roberto Mancini has done little to calm reports of City's interest. It would appear all the transfer speculation is not sitting well with Wenger.

"We will not come back forever on Van Persie," he said. "We have many strikers at home. Van Persie is one of them. We have not had any more contact from City or United about him at all. The Van Persie case doesn't cross my mind. We have had no offers.

"We have talked about Van Persie. We have just played a game, there are four English people here and there have been four questions about him. I have talked about Van Persie and I'm not talking about that question anymore. Do you understand?"

Mancini, who has this week spoken of his frustration with his club's activity in the transfer market, claimed to be in the dark over the Van Persie situation when told of Wenger's comments.

Mancini said: "I think it is like this. If Wenger said this, I think it is true. Van Persie is one of the best strikers in the world - it is difficult to buy him. Have we made an offer? I don't think so."
