Wenger in market but cools Cazorla link

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has distanced his side from a move for Spain international midfielder Santi Cazorla, although the Frenchman has confirmed "we will still bring players in".

• Cazorla agrees Arsenal terms - report

A report in the Guardian on Tuesday claimed that Cazorla, who plays for Malaga, had already agreed on terms to join the Gunners. However, the report also said that a fee between the clubs had yet to be agreed.

Cazorla has a €45 million buy-out clause in his contract, but Malaga are likely to sell for less due to financial concerns: they could be relegated if outstanding debts are not settled.

After Arsenal's stuttering 2-1 victory over Malaysia XI on Tuesday, Wenger was asked whether a new deal was imminent. He said: "No [we are not close]. Maybe we will sign a Malaysian player!"

Later, in a press conference upon landing in Beijing, Wenger was a bit more revealing about Arsenal's progress on transfers. The Frenchman confirmed that there will be further arrivals at Emirates Stadium this summer.

Wenger told reporters: "You see I have come here to say as little as possible! I am ready to talk a lot, but not a lot about transfers, because it is a very fragile subject and a very secret subject.

"We bought Giroud and Podolski and I hope that we bought Diaby and Wilshere too, who didn't play at all last season. We will add Wilshere to the squad as soon as possible. But we are not at the end of it [transfers] - we will still bring players in."

Cazorla, who joined Malaga for €19 million from Villarreal in 2011, was part of Spain's victorious Euro 2012 squad.

He has also been discussed as a possible target for Tottenham Hotspur if they lose Luka Modric to Real Madrid.
