Kewell patient in search for new club

Australia winger Harry Kewell claims there has been interest in him from English clubs, though he is happy to wait before deciding where he will continue his career.

Kewell, 33, left Melbourne Victory last month to return to the UK with his family in order to be closer to his wife's ill mother. He had been plying his trade in the A-League since leaving Turkish giants Galatasaray in 2011.

The former Leeds United and Liverpool forward last played in the Premier League four years ago and is now ready for another crack at English football, though he has so far only been linked with lower league sides Swindon Town, Blackburn and Middlesbrough.

Kewell insists he still has "another two or three years at a very high level", however, and is is in no rush to choose a new club.

"I've got some positive feedback but, the way it stands, I've got to be patient," he told AAP. "At the moment, things are - we are talking. And we just have to sort out a few things but I'm open to a lot of suggestions at the moment.

"Everyone is in pre-season now and you do want to be part of that," he added. My fitness is fine. I think I proved that last time I was with the Australian team and Holger (Osieck) actually turned around and said he was impressed with it.

"Everyone has asked me, 'what are you doing?' and all this and that and the thing is, when does an athlete ever realise it's time to pack it in?

"If they truly love a sport, they will keep going until, I don't know, they are 50 I suppose. I still feel confident. I still feel I've got another two or three years at a very high level and we just have to wait and see."
