Moyes hopeful over Pienaar

David Moyes is confident of re-signing midfielder Steven Pienaar from Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent deal.

• Friendlies: Motherwell hold Everton

Pienaar, 30, left Everton for Spurs in January 2011 but, following an injury-hit year at White Hart Lane, he returned to Goodison Park on loan for the second half of last season.

Reports have suggested a £5 million deal is close, with Pienaar believed to have agreed terms, and Moyes thinks the signing could be completed in the near future.

"I think we are much closer to Pienaar and hopefully in time I will have something, but I don't quite have it yet," he said following his side's pre-season friendly with Motherwell.

Reports suggest Everton are reliant on the sale of defender Joseph Yobo to Fenerbahce to fund the transfer.
