Canaries make new Snodgrass offer

Norwich City are reported to have made an improved offer for Leeds United midfielder Robert Snodgrass after having a bid rejected earlier this week.

The Yorkshire Evening Post said the Canaries had tabled an increased bid for the Scotland international on Thursday, which was being considered by the Elland Road hierarchy.

Snodgrass, 24, was made captain of Leeds when Neil Warnock took over as manager in February. Speaking after Leeds revealed that they had rejected a Norwich offer, Warnock said he was keen to keep him.

"It's been made public that they [Norwich] have bid, but from our point of view it's not what we're looking for," he told the official Leeds website. "We'd like to keep Rob, and Rob knows that. Whether that will be possible, we'll have to wait and see.

"It's difficult when players get their heads turned, but I'd like to keep Rob at the club. Unless they come up with a valuation that the club thinks is satisfactory then that's what we want to do."

Meanwhile, Norwich and Barnsley have come to an agreement over a transfer fee for midfielder Jacob Butterfield, avoiding the prospect of a tribunal.

The 22-year-old midfielder, who was out of contract at Oakwell, signed a four-year contract at Carrow Road, with a fee required because he is under the age of 24.

Barnsley rejected an initial offer, with their manager Keith Hill accusing Norwich of having made a "derisory" bid.

But a Barnsley statement said: "Barnsley Football Club have reached an agreement with Norwich City for the transfer fee of Jacob Butterfield. The club are now happy to have accepted a vastly improved offer from Norwich."
