Galliani: Serie A can't attract top players

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani believes that Serie A is no longer able to attract the best players in the world.

• PSG confirm Ibra signing
• Thiago Silva joins PSG

The Rossoneri have sanctioned the sales of Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to PSG in the past week and Galliani agreed with comments made by the latter's agent, Mino Raiola.

Raiola had said: "Milan's decision to sell him was a necessary one and in line with the economical conditions of the country. It's time for Italian football to change its mentality and come up with new ideas.

"The top players will no longer arrive in Italy, but the country can develop them. We have to realise that an era has come to an end, but I'm certain a new one will start."

When asked about the remarks, Galliani said: "I agree with Mino Raiola, who says that top players are no longer coming to Italy. The top players no longer come, but we can form a team. We see they are not arriving, but we will see what we can do."

The transfers of Silva and Ibrahimovic earned Milan €62 million in fees and marked another major coup for PSG, who have also taken Ezequiel Lavezzi and Javier Pastore from Serie A sides Napoli and Palermo in the past 12 months.
