Overmars: No Anita offers

Ajax director of football Marc Overmars has dismissed reports of a bid from Newcastle for midfielder Vernon Anita.

Anita, 23, has been linked with a move to Newcastle for the past few weeks and has voiced his desire to make a move to the Premier League.

The player's agent, Harry Lulofs, has said he will meet with Overmars to discuss a move, but the director insists there are no offers on the table.

"If Frank [de Boer] wants to keep him, Vurnon should just stay at Ajax," former Arsenal winger Overmars told Voetbal International.

"His contract has two more years left on it and we are very pleased with him. In the two weeks I have been in this role with Ajax I have heard nothing from Newcastle."

Elsewhere in Netherlands, Newcastle have filed another offer for FC Twente centre-back Douglas, which is currently being considered by the Enschede side.
