Di Matteo keen on Malouda talks

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo is eager to discuss Florent Malouda's future at the club, and expects to sit down with the winger this week to confirm his intentions.

• Santos balk at Malouda wages

Chelsea are currently on their pre-season tour of the US and Frenchman Malouda, 32, will team up with his colleagues this week, after enjoying a break following Euro 2012.

The midfielder has been linked with a move to Santos in Brazil but there has been no official movement on either side, and Di Matteo will now straighten out the issue.

"Players are now slowly returning, Malouda was back today and we expect the others to come when we are on the east coast," the Italian said.

"I still haven't had a chance to speak to Florent, so I need to speak to him first and see what his intentions are, then we will see what the best interests are for him and the club.

"At the moment I am very happy with the squad. We have a good squad, a very good team and have new players with us already. Our job is to try and integrate them into a team that was very successful last season."

He added: "Pre-season gives me a great opportunity to see these players in training and competitive games. The final decision who will go out on loan and who will stay will be made at the beginning of August, the first week maybe."
