Lucio: I hope Inter miss me

New Juventus recruit Lucio says he hopes former club Inter Milan "have made a mistake" by allowing him to leave.

Lucio terminated the final two years of his Inter deal to move to Turin, and also rejected offers to play in Spain and Turkey in recent months. The 34-year-old has now turned his attention to helping Juventus defend their Serie A title after spending three years at the San Siro.

"[Juventus] president Andrea Agnelli is right, Juventus have won 30 Scudetti," Lucio said. "I respect my ex-team-mates at Inter, but I now play for Juventus and I hope they miss me. I hope Inter have made a mistake.

"Should I score a goal against them then I will certainly celebrate it as I always give my best for the team which I play for.

"This is an important step in my career. I'm at a club with a great project. I chose Juventus because I still wanted to play at the highest level.

"I'm somebody that always honours the shirt that I wear. Juventus have returned to being a great team and our mentality must be a winning one. I'm now at the disposal of the coach in order to adapt to the systems he employs."

Following their domestic success last season, Lucio insists Juventus must also return to being a force in Europe as the Bianconeri aim to add to their vast collection of silverware.

"We know that it won't be easy to win in Europe, but I think Juventus is already amongst the best. We can aim for the maximum in the Champions League, as well as Serie A and the Coppa Italia," he said.
