Kahn not interested in DFB role

Oliver Kahn has ruled himself out of the running to replace Matthias Sammer as technical director of the German Football Association.

Sammer stepped down from his position with the the German FA (DFB) ten days ago to become Bayern Munich's new director of football and former Bayern and Germany goalkeeper Kahn has been touted as a potential replacement.

However, he says the time is not right for him to take on such a role. "At the moment, I am not at all interested in doing that, be it for the DFB or for a club,'' he said. "There are more beautiful things in life than football.''

Kahn made the remarks to Sport1 television while playing in a charity golf event in Bavaria and, despite some marketing work in Asia and television work, Kahn has not been involved in football since hanging up his gloves in 2008.

Kahn made 86 appearances for his country and played 429 times for Bayern, earning many accolades throughout a successful career which saw him win the Bundesliga eight times.
