Vertonghen seals Tottenham move

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Jan Vertonghen from Ajax after the defender passed a medical.

Tottenham confirmed last Sunday they had struck an agreement with Ajax for the acquisition the Belgium international for a reported fee of around €10 million.

The versatile centre-back, who also play at left-back or as a defensive midfielder, underwent medical tests this week and has now rubber-stamped his switch after agreeing personal terms with Andre Villas-Boas' side.

A short statement on Spurs' website read: "We are delighted to announce that Jan Vertonghen has completed his transfer from Ajax after successfully passing his medical."

Villas-Boas, who took over the North London club after Harry Redknapp left in June, has already brought in Gylfi Sigurdsson from Hoffenheim.
